I first came into contact with a bull terrier whilst delivering
newspapers to a family who owned a bitch when I was a 12 year old
boy. It took another 5 years of begging and persuading to convince
my parents to purchase a bull terrier. By this time my parents had become
hooked on the idea and my mother is my partner in breeding bull
terriers to this day.
So in 1981 we acquired our first bull
terrier. A Brobar Honky daughter called Petes Pip of Sonspar, who
was to become our foundation bitch. After listening to advice and
doing a little homework we decided to mate her to a beautiful big
dog called Brobar Troubleshooter. Where we met and became close
friends with Arthur and Joyce Miller of Brobar fame. This is where I
gained knowledge of the breed spending many days discussing the
breed and helping out with their dogs. From the mating of Petes Pip
to Troubleshooter came 10 puppies, we decided to keep a dog who we
named Martons Marauder ,he had reasonable success in the show ring
but it was at stud that he proved his worth, winning the stud dog
trophy for 1987, as sire of
Bodyline of Brobar, winner of the Ormandy Jug for bitches 1984, and when Marauder was mated to
Brobar Hot Pot of Mereigis ,who was litter sister to Brobar
Silver Satin dam of the Ghabar dogs, came Ch.Brobar Joker of
Emred, runner-up Regent Trophy 1987,and runner-up Ormandy Jug for dogs two years 1987 and 1988. Joker was then exported to
Australia where he had success at stud.

Marauder was also grandsire of
Am.Ch.Emred Top Gun of Brobar ROM. who was exported to America
where he won the stud dog trophy for two years 1991 & 1992 and
is behind many top American dogs today.
Then came a 5 year break from showing although we kept our breeding
programme going using dogs mainly from the Ghabar and Aricon
kennels. Whose lines had many great Brobar dogs behind them.

In 1994 Turkshead All Gold of Emred, who was a granddaughter
of Jokers litter sister, was mated to Ch.Maxdon Hustler of Tiapan,
Ormandy Jug winner 1993. Hustler being predominatly Ghabar and
Aricon lines. From this mating came Emred Domino Dancer (Summer
Queen Brood Bitch Winner 1999 ) she was then mated to Radclyffe
Gophrit of Dollygroves who was line bred back to Ch. Ghabar
Flagship. From this mating came Ch. Emred Devils Chance, winner
Ormandy Jug 1999 and runner-up Regent Trophy the same year. .

Emred Rising Sun.

Ch. Emred Devils Chance also made
his mark at stud producing Emred Rising Sun who was invited to
compete in the major trophies before being exported to America
where he is enjoying major success in the show ring.
Ch.Foureatons Grandopera Persiflarge , runner-up ormandy jug
2002 & winner of the Sandawana Trophy 2003 and Ch.Penbrays Play
To The Devil, winner Ormandy Jug for dogs 2003 .
Devils Chance is fully health tested for heart , kidney and BAER
hearing and so was available for the Minature Bull Terrier
interbreeding program, where he sired top
winning mini dog Ch.Badlesmere Bluebeard.

The Next in the line is Devils
Chance son, Ch. Bilston Blackjack of Emred who won the coloured
club’s Romany Trophy and has been invited to compete in
all three major trophies for 2004. He gained his title in 2005
winning a terrier group along the way with 900 terriers entered
on the day. He was then invited to compete in the major trophies
for 2005 where he won the SANDAWANA TROPHY for best coloured of
the year.

Devils Essence |
In 2005 we decided to go even
closer into our line. Emred Sweet Pickle, who was the result of
a half brother/sister mating to Ch. Emred Devils Chance was
mated back to Devils Chance. The result from this was Ch. Emred
Devils Essence. Essence won 6 CC at only 6 shows, plus group 4
at her first show at 1 year,1day old. Then at the major trophies
for 2006 she won the REGENT TROPHY & ORMANDY JUG for Bitches.
This was especially
pleasing
as we have now won all 4
major trophies.!
In our breeding programme we have consistently used dogs with
good heads, perfect mouths and correct construction with
emphasis on shoulders placement, believing that the shoulders
are the point of balance in a dog . Also true Bull Terrier
temperament is very important.
